About the Project
YogaVivo began as a well-known yoga studio in Copenhagen, welcoming people for in-person classes. But after the Covid pandemic changed daily life, the team made an important decision to make yoga accessible for everyone, both offline and online. They started building a mobile app with the help of an offshore development team, aiming to keep and grow their community even during the period of uncertainty.
Now, the studio makes yoga practice available anytime and helps people of all ages and backgrounds to train in their own rhythm — at home, on holiday, or after work. In 2025, their mobile app stands out not only for the offline classes but mostly for the large digital platform of yoga, meditation, and fitness content.
When YogaVivo reached out to Lumitech, the task was simple at first glance: to rebuild a mobile app so it suits today’s expectations on performance and usability, while keeping the style their users trust. But as we soon found out, delivering this meant much more — real user care, reliable experience, and high technical discipline.

For most people, YogaVivo quickly becomes more than just another fitness app. Its users say what keeps them coming back is the way YogaVivo just fits into their lives — no big planning needed, and no pressure if a busy day happens. You can open the app and from the first screen, there are options for every kind of mood or energy level. A lot of people mention the huge video library since there are classes for sleepy mornings, stressful afternoons, or those days when you need a confidence boost. With friendly instructors, a supportive community, and a real focus on making movement feel good — YogaVivo became more than just an app, for many it is now a regular part of a healthy routine.
Interesting Facts
The client is both an entrepreneur and a certified yoga instructor. Such involvement meant the requirements were very practical and rooted in real yoga studio needs.
We experienced the renowned “Danish precision” in our partnership: every feature and detail were double-checked to ensure the highest quality.
Our calls began on Skype (which did feel a bit old-school), but soon we switched to Microsoft Teams for easier day-to-day communication.
Previous Lumitech experience in the health and wellness sector proved helpful for understanding project needs quickly.
Client Request
YogaVivo’s existing app was developed on legacy technology by an offshore team. Over time, the application became slow and was difficult to maintain, and users started to notice these issues as well.
The main goals for our work were:
Completely rebuild the application using React Native for cross-platform support.
Keep the YogaVivo visual style, but update the design to be clearer and more modern.
Ensure the app would perform reliably for users on both iOS and Android devices.
Approach
We started with an in-depth Discovery phase. Our aim was to carefully review the old app, identify missing functions, and set priorities for development. Two React Native developers from Lumitech worked closely with the client and their backend engineer. This close teamwork allowed us to respond quickly to feedback and solve challenges as they arise. We also invested in comprehensive technical documentation, aiming to make future maintenance much easier for YogaVivo’s internal team.
